Evolving Festivals & Events Out of Local Authority Funding

Many local authorities are financially supporting festivals and events in their area, events which provide both income and publicity for the town or county. But with cuts in revenue, this funding is no longer a priority, yet no-one wants the festivals and events to disappear.

With our experience in creating and expanding festivals with a range of different funding models (none of which include any form of public funding) we have the expertise to help the teams running existing festivals and events to evolve and stand on their own two feet financially.

Every event is different in terms of its heritage, ambience, size and financial model – so each pathway to financial security will also be different. Our approach involves three steps;

  1. Investigation – A full review of the festival in conjunction with the organisers, funders etc to provide a clear understanding of where we are now and what are the objectives.
  2. Strategic Plan – To put together a clear written programme of how to evolve the event and timescales to meet those objectives. This is likely to be a three- or five-year plan depending on the scale of the funding or dependency upon it.
  3. Implementation – Working with the existing team to ensure that the festival thrives and survives as it evolves into its new financial model.
